Samsung has confirmed a Galaxy Unpacked event for February 2022, while the details of its next Galaxy S phones remain the subject of prelaunch reports. As of this January 26 preview, the useful distinction is between Samsung’s own teaser and specifications or prices reported before the announcement.

Samsung Galaxy S22 launch timing

In a January 21 editorial, Samsung mobile president TM Roh said the next S-series device would be introduced at Unpacked in February. He referred to an “ultimate Ultra experience” and discussed the Galaxy Note and S Pen. That statement confirmed the month, but did not set out a full specification sheet or price list.

The event date and time should be checked against an official invitation rather than inferred from calendar code or an anonymous post. A launch presentation, preorder date and first shipping date can also be different events.

Reported European prices

Before the launch, Roland Quandt circulated a European price list. Notebookcheck’s January 23 account of that report listed starting prices of €849 for the S22, €1,049 for the S22+ and €1,249 for the S22 Ultra. Those were reported prelaunch figures, not a confirmed local checkout price.

Currency, tax, storage and RAM configurations matter when comparing such figures. A euro price should not be presented as a US dollar price, and one model’s starting configuration is not necessarily equivalent to another’s. Samsung’s local product pages and purchase terms will be the appropriate reference when ordering becomes available.

Design and the Galaxy Note connection

Roh’s discussion of the Note and S Pen makes stylus support an important detail to watch. It does not, on its own, confirm the shape of every phone or the contents of every box. Leaked dummy units and renders may illustrate a possibility, but they do not establish the final hardware.

Cameras and displays: wait for model-specific details

Camera resolution, zoom, video frame rates and display brightness need to be tied to a particular model. A rumored feature for an Ultra phone should not automatically be assigned to the base S22 or S22+. Nor does a higher specification establish better photographs without comparable evidence.

For a buying decision, the details to check after the announcement are the exact camera modes, display size, supported networks, battery and charging specifications, software-support policy and local price. Prelaunch claims cannot establish battery life, real-world image quality or whether a device is safer than every competitor.

Readers considering an upgrade can use the official announcement to compare their current phone with the exact new model. A rumor roundup is context for the launch, rather than a substitute for that comparison.

Correction: An earlier version contradicted itself about confirmed launch timing and presented speculative specifications and security superlatives too confidently. This preview distinguishes the January 21 teaser from unconfirmed prelaunch reports.
