GDPR Compliance

Version 2026.09 · Effective September 15, 2026 · Last updated September 15, 2026

The short version

  • This page explains the rights of readers in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and Switzerland under the GDPR and UK GDPR.
  • TechAbout LLC, publisher of TechEngage®, is the controller of your personal data.
  • You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, port or object to the use of your data by emailing [email protected]. We respond within one month.
  • Full details of what we collect and why are in our Privacy Policy.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR give people in Europe control over their personal data. This page summarizes how TechEngage applies those rules. To avoid repeating ourselves, the details of what data we collect, which service providers we use and how long we keep information are set out in our Privacy Policy, and each cookie is listed in our Cookies Policy.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller is TechAbout LLC, TechAbout LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. Contact: [email protected]. TechEngage is a small U.S. publisher and has not appointed a data protection officer; privacy requests are handled directly by our editorial management team.

2. What we process and why

We process a limited set of personal data, mainly:

  • Comment data (name, email, optional website, comment text, IP address) to publish and moderate discussion and block spam. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Messages and form submissions (name, email, message) to reply to you. Legal basis: legitimate interests, or steps you ask us to take before entering into an agreement, such as an advertising inquiry.
  • Analytics data collected by Google Analytics 4 to understand which articles readers find useful. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Security data (IP address, request details) processed by our host and Cloudflare to keep the site available. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed our interests against your rights and limited the data to what is needed. You can object at any time (see below). We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising profiles, and we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

3. Your rights

  • Access: ask for confirmation that we process your data and receive a copy of it.
  • Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your data, for example a comment you posted, unless we must keep it for a legal reason.
  • Restriction: ask us to pause the use of your data while a concern is resolved.
  • Portability: receive data you gave us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will stop unless we have compelling grounds that override your interests or need the data for legal claims.
  • Withdraw consent: where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing.
  • Complain: lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (see section 7).

4. How to make a request

  1. Email [email protected] with the subject line “Data request” and tell us which right you want to use.
  2. Tell us the email address or name you used when commenting or contacting us, so we can find the relevant records.
  3. We may ask you to confirm that you control that email address before we act. We only ask for what is needed to verify you.
  4. We respond within one month. If a request is complex, we may extend this by up to two further months and will tell you why.
  5. Requests are free. We may charge a reasonable fee or decline only if a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, and we will explain our decision.

5. Transfers outside Europe

TechEngage and most of our service providers are based in the United States. When personal data is transferred from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions where the provider is certified, or on Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards.

6. Cookies

Our Cookies Policy lists every cookie we use and explains how to block or delete them. We do not use advertising cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time with Google’s browser add-on or your browser settings.

7. Complaints

We would like the chance to fix a problem first, so please contact us. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority, usually in the country where you live or work:

  • EEA: find your national authority on the European Data Protection Board members list.
  • United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
  • Switzerland: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

8. Contact us

For any question about this page or your data, email [email protected] or write to TechAbout LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. For comment-related requests, you can also review our Comments Policy.
