TechEngage is committed to publishing accurate, fair, and transparent technology journalism. These editorial standards govern every piece of content we produce and apply equally to all staff writers, contributors, and editors.
Accuracy and Fact-Checking
Every article published on TechEngage must be factually accurate at the time of publication. Writers are required to verify claims using primary sources — manufacturer specifications, official press releases, regulatory filings, peer-reviewed research, or direct testing — before including them in an article. When primary sources are unavailable, we attribute information to the most authoritative secondary source and state the attribution clearly.
Statistics, pricing, and technical specifications are verified against official documentation before publication. When specs change after publication (as they frequently do in technology), we update the article and note the change where relevant.
Corrections Policy
Errors happen. When we identify a factual error — whether caught internally or reported by a reader — we correct it promptly and transparently. Minor corrections (typos, formatting) are made without notation. Substantive corrections (incorrect specs, misattributed quotes, wrong pricing) are noted at the bottom of the article with a brief explanation of what was changed and when.
If you spot an error in any article, email [email protected] with the article URL and details. We investigate every report.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial judgments are never influenced by advertising relationships, affiliate commissions, or sponsored content agreements. The editorial team operates independently from the business side. Specifically:
- Writers are not informed of affiliate commission rates when evaluating products.
- Advertisers cannot review or approve editorial content before publication.
- Product ratings and recommendations are based on research, testing, and comparative analysis — never on financial arrangements.
- Sponsored content is always clearly labeled and separated from independent editorial work.
Sourcing Standards
TechEngage links to primary sources whenever possible so readers can verify claims independently. When reporting on leaks, rumors, or unconfirmed information, we identify the material as such and state the level of confidence clearly. We do not present speculation as confirmed fact.
External links in editorial content point to authoritative sources — manufacturer websites, official documentation, government agencies, established research institutions, and reputable publications. We do not link to sources of questionable credibility or accuracy.
Disclosure Requirements
TechEngage follows Federal Trade Commission guidelines on endorsements and testimonials. All material relationships are disclosed:
- Affiliate links — Articles containing affiliate links include a disclosure statement. Affiliate relationships are detailed on our Disclaimer page.
- Sponsored content — Posts financially supported by a third party are labeled with a “Sponsored” tag at the top of the article.
- Review units — When a manufacturer provides a product for review, the review states that the unit was provided. Receiving a product does not guarantee favorable coverage.
Conflicts of Interest
Writers must disclose any personal or financial interest in a product, company, or service they are covering. If a conflict cannot be adequately managed through disclosure, the assignment is reassigned to another writer. Staff members do not accept gifts, travel, or other benefits from companies they cover that could compromise the perception of editorial independence.
Content Updates
Technology moves fast. Pricing changes, software updates, and product discontinuations can make published content outdated. Our editorial team periodically reviews high-traffic articles and updates them to reflect current information. Updated articles display a “Last updated” date to help readers assess timeliness.
Authorship and Accountability
Every article on TechEngage carries a byline identifying the author. Readers can click the author name to view their profile, bio, and full archive of published work. This transparency ensures accountability — readers always know who wrote what and can assess the author’s expertise and track record.
