Xiaomi shows off Mi Fold in a video teaser

While Samsung and Huawei have shown off their foldable phablets, Xiaomi is now ready to enter the market. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer released a 10-second long teaser of their new phablet the Mi Fold. What really sets it apart from the competition is its ability to fold not once, but twice!

The design is truly a world apart from its competitors. The Huawei Mate X and the Samsung Galaxy Fold only fold once at the center of the screen.

The video also shows just how large the product is when used in tablet form and how compact it can become once folded.

The teaser leaves us with some burning questions. For example, will the phablet be able to function with one wing open and the other closed or does the Mi Fold have to have both wings open for it to operate in the tablet mode?

We’re also curious about the specs of the device. We hope that Xioami has packed some beefy hardware under the hood to power its device.

While we do know that the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X are double the prices of standard top-tier flagship phones, we can expect Xiaomi to undercut the two behemoths by a good margin.

Xiaomi has always done a great job of delivering flagship features at a price that truly attracts consumers. For example, the Xiaomi Mi 9 retails at $449, while the Samsung Galaxy S10 costs $999.

We still don’t have any further details on the Mi Fold’s release date, but we hope it makes an appearance at one of this year’s remaining tech shows.

It’ll be very interesting to see all the smartphone giants fight for phablet supremacy, especially once the price wars begin.
