Contributor Guidelines

The short version: TechEngage® considers original pitches from writers, researchers and practitioners who can teach our readers something verifiable. Pitch first, before writing a full draft, by emailing [email protected] with the subject “Contributor pitch:”. We do not accept paid links, promotional articles or undisclosed AI-generated work.

What we accept

  • Explainers and guides on consumer technology, apps and software, AI, cybersecurity, startups and practical tools.
  • Analysis and opinion with a clear argument, evidence readers can evaluate, and disclosed conflicts of interest.
  • Practitioner insight from founders, engineers, security researchers or analysts, when it teaches something beyond promoting a product.
  • Data-led or experience-led stories that show sources, methods, screenshots or first-hand context.

What we do not accept

  • Guest posts written to place links, and any offer to pay for publication or links.
  • Promotional articles about your own company presented as editorial.
  • Spun, copied or previously published articles, and mass-produced SEO copy.
  • Casino, adult, or speculative crypto promotion.
  • Unverifiable claims, anonymous accusations, fabricated quotes or unsupported comparisons.

How to pitch

Email [email protected] with a subject line that starts “Contributor pitch:” followed by your working headline. Include:

  1. A working headline and a summary of three to five sentences.
  2. Why it matters now and what problem it solves for readers.
  3. Your name, a short bio, relevant credentials and two or three links to published work.
  4. The primary sources, data or documentation you plan to cite.
  5. Any conflicts of interest: employers, clients, investments, or relationships with companies you mention.
  6. Whether the idea has been pitched or published elsewhere.

Please do not send attachments with your first email. We contact writers whose pitches we want to pursue and cannot respond to every submission.

Originality and sourcing

  • Original work only. Submissions must be your own and not published anywhere else, including your own blog or LinkedIn, before or after we publish, unless we agree otherwise.
  • Cite primary sources. Link to official documentation, research papers, filings or direct statements rather than other articles that summarize them.
  • Attribute quotes and data. Every quote needs a named, verifiable source. Every statistic needs a link to where it came from.
  • Use images you have rights to. Credit the source for every image, chart or screenshot.

AI tools and human authorship

You may use AI tools for research support, transcription or grammar checks, but the ideas, reporting and writing must be yours. Tell us in your pitch and with your draft which AI tools you used and how. We do not accept articles generated by AI, and we do not publish AI-generated bylines. Every contributor article is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by a TechEngage editor before publication. Undisclosed AI-generated content is grounds for rejection or removal.

Links and disclosure

  • No paid links. Contributors may not accept payment or any other benefit from a third party for including a link or mention. Doing so ends the relationship and the article is removed.
  • Editors choose links. Links are included only when they help readers. Editors may remove or change any link.
  • rel=”sponsored” policy. Any link connected to a commercial relationship is marked rel=”sponsored” and disclosed. Paid placements are handled by our advertising team, not through contributor articles.
  • Disclose conflicts. If you work for, advise or invest in a company you mention, we will disclose that relationship in the article.

Bylines and author pages

  • Contributors publish under their real name. We do not publish pseudonymous, company or AI bylines.
  • Provide a short bio (up to 50 words) and a headshot. Your bio may include your role and one relevant link, which editors approve.
  • Your byline and bio should accurately represent your expertise and current affiliations.

Editing rights

Accepting a pitch does not guarantee publication. TechEngage editors may change headlines, structure, wording, sourcing, links, images, disclosures and publication timing. We share significant changes with you when practical, but final editorial decisions rest with TechEngage. We may update published articles to keep them accurate, and errors are handled under our corrections policy. We may reject or remove work that fails our editorial standards or ethics policy.

Frequently asked questions

Does TechEngage accept guest posts?

We accept original contributor pitches that give readers useful, verifiable insight. We do not accept guest posts written to place links or promote a company.

Can I include a link to my website?

Your author bio may include one relevant link approved by editors. Links in the article are included only when they help readers, and paid links are never allowed.
