Paypal ‘BLOCKED’ social network Gab from its payment platform

In the morning, a gunman in the ‘Tree of Life’ synagogue Pennsylvania shot eleven people and was arrested by the police. The 46-year old suspect named Robert Bowers had a history of anti-Semitic speech on Gab. Because of these leaks, PayPal blocked Gab’s official site from their payment platform calling this an act of violence and terrorism.
In a statement, PayPal’s spokesperson confirmed the strict action taken by the company against Gab; he declared that:

”The company is diligent in performing reviews and taking account actions. When a site is explicitly allowing the perpetuation of hate, violence or discriminatory intolerance, we take immediate and decisive action.”

Immediately after the release of shooter’s identity and the coverage of his anti-semitic profile’s screenshots on Gab by media, Gab gave a defensive statement saying:

“Unequivocally disavows and condemns all acts of terrorism and violence.”

Gab elaborated that the company fully collaborated with the law enforcement officials in this matter and provided them complete account information of Bowers for investigation purpose before account termination.
PayPal is first of its kind to ban Gab’s official site. Back in August 2017, Apple refused to add Gab to its iOS store. Google removed Gab from its Play store to stand by its official play store’s terms and conditions. Microsoft declined the Gab hosting after the revelation of hate speech published on the site, in July this year. The PayPal rejection has made Gab difficult to survive among competitors as Gab’s revenue would be no longer in positive integers.
After the PayPal’s action, Gab tweeted that we do not “allow terrorists on our platform.”
