The drone maker DJI are introducing a new handheld pocket gimbal that lets you shoot in 4K. The new gadget for vloggers and YouTubers is a little handheld gimbal that comes with a 1-inch touchscreen. The Osmo Pocket can fit entirely in one’s pocket with the ability to shoot 4K video having an unmatchable stabilization.

Osmo Pocket is just four inches tall but encapsulates a bunch of smart features. There’s a 12-megapixel lens on top of the gimbal which is same as used in DJI’s Mavic Pro and Mavic Air drones. To get the idea of the image and video quality, you can check the sample images of these drones. Its 12-megapixel camera has a 1/2.3-inch sensor which lets you shoot 4K video at 60 FPS.

The 1-inch screen of DJI Osmo Pocket seems a little smaller to experience the video and photos taken on the gimbal. To make up for it, DJI offers quite a great solution; it lets you attach your smartphone with a connector and control the gimbal with the app. Osmo Pocket comes with Lightning and USB-C connectors so you can use both, the iPhone as well as the Android.

The main feature that makes it worth the bucks is its ability to stabilize the video better than smartphones. DJI learned the stabilization techniques from their drones, and now they’re using it in their gimbals. Osmo Pocket’s stabilization is far more comprehensive than optical or electronic image stabilization. With this, Osmo becomes the best handheld gimbal that lets you shoot stabilized 4K videos.

Osmo comes with other handy features like FaceTrack if you’re into selfies, and ActiveTrack if you’re shooting a video and want to track an object. Just tap on the subject on the one-inch screen, and it will actively follow its every move. FPV mode lets you capture your surroundings from a dynamic perspective. The gimbal follows the orientation smoothly to offer stabilized video shots. You can also take Osmo Pocket underwater with the waterproof case to capture the serenity of the underwater world.

Motionlapse lets you take smooth footage of your favorite view. Seamless 3×3 Panorama shot can capture perfect shots of the landscape. Night Shot feature enables you to capture handheld long exposure shots with the ability to illuminate the light. Don’t confuse this with Google Pixel phone’s Night Sight mode.

With DJI Mimo app, you can get creative with the built-in templates. You can record stories using these templates and share your perspective on social media with a single tap with Osmo Pocket’s app. These templates include preset camera movements and effects. Osmo Pocket makes everyone great at shooting cinematic video content with stabilized shots. The three-axis gimbal obliterates the jitter in the video and produces smooth shake-free videos.

DJI Osmo Pocket is priced at $349 and is available for preorders and will be shipped in December.
